Hi everyone! I am going to sew this fun project with my kids and if any of you are interested, you should join in and sew along with us! It looks like a fun project and if any of your children like stuffed animals--in particular puppies or kitties--it's double the fun! Rosemary and Esther have already decided that they are each going to make the kitty (I'm not surprised) so we are going to go out this Tuesday to get the fabric. Here is what you will need:
Pattern: McCalls 4893
Puppy A (Dark Black):
Main Fabric- 3/8 yd.
(3) Different Contrast Fabrics - 3 Fat Quarters or 1/8 yd. each
Puppy B (Lighter Prints):
Main Fabric- 3/8 yd.
(4) Different Contrast Fabrics - 4 Fat Quarters or 1/8 yd. each
Kitty C (Black Checked):
Main Fabric- 1/2 yd.
(1) Contrast Fabric- 1/8 yd
Kitty D (Multi-Colored One):
Main Fabric- 3/8 yd.
(3) Different Contrast Fabrics - 3 Fat Quarters or 1/8 yd. each
(1) More Contrast Fabric (Bow) - 1/8 yd.
Puppy Notions Needed:
(1) 1" Button, (2) 3/4" Buttons for eyes, (2) 8" pipe-cleaners, Polyester Fiberfill (get smallest bag possible), fabric glue OR glue gun
Kitty Notions Needed:
(2) 1/2" Buttons for eyes, Embroidery floss for nose and Mouth, Polyester Fiberfill (get smallest bag possible), fabric glue OR glue gun
When I refer to the contrast fabrics and say you need 1/8 yd. each, it's just because that is the smallest amount that they will let you buy in the store. If you already have fabric scraps laying around that will work with your color schemes, you could use them and save some money.
Let me know if anyone is going to sew along and which animal you are going to do. That way I can concentrate on that particular animal in the blog posts. Get your kids and see if this is something they might like to do with you! Dust off the old sewing machine! Come on! It will be fun!
Love, Rachel
