Mamma Made
Finally! I’ve had a chance to whip up this little thing. This is my design from the Spoonflower Children’s pattern contest. I will show you the pictures and then share my comments at the end of the post. We actually received the fabric on Christmas Eve and here is Eleanor with it. I don’t think she actually “got it” of course. She just loves the green flowers because green is her favorite color. My 2 eldest girls holding up the fabric. I don’t know why Rosemary is making that crazy face. I sewed...

You can officially vote for the best birds of the week at Spoonflower. You really should go and check it out. There are some amazing designs out there. Once I was on a roll, I decided to continue experimenting with this bird pattern. These are my new flats to share with you. I’ll zoom in so you can see the pattern on the front bodice. This is so much fun! I just wish my computer would stop crashing on me! Love,

I decided to create a dress from the “Love Birds” fabric design I created for Spoonflower. I have digitally laid out all of the pieces except for the sleeves. The images you see here aren’t accurate but show the composition of the pieces. I’m also going to play around with a different color scheme after I write this up. Here it is! Love,

I just can’t resist the fun. Yes, Spoonflower once again. This time I’m entering in a bird fabric design and the color palate is chosen for you. Entries close on the 4th, so you still have time! Here is the palette you need to use: Here is my bird entry! Come on! What do you have to lose? It’s all in good fun and it gets you creating. Isn’t that what is most important? Love,

Thank you everyone who voted for me in the Spoonflower Challenge. I didn’t win but I am very excited none-the-less. I received my fabric with the dress on it and I quickly cut it out to see if the sizing was good. IT WAS ABSOLUTELY PERFECT!!!! I pinned it together and put it on Ellie and it just looks amazing. The printed fabric is so much better than the computer image file. I will write a separate post on that once I sew it up. Today we are going to talk about ELEPHANTS! My new elephant dress for my...

I know I’m supposed to be working on three vintage dresses…but I’m getting a bit distracted because my husband Jon is re-vamping my Mamma Made site to newer and greater things! This coming year I am starting a sewing school for children and I’m going to have a link to my school on my site. This way people can sign up, pay, view the different classes and curriculums all in one place. I won’t have to mess around with endless papers and such. Sounds so nice! All this to say, I’m working on a button for my site to link...

I never get tired of seeing overalls (or anything for that matter!) made with this lion fabric. Mary Brewer of royalforest has made an adorable little pair for her nephew. Yay, Mary! Can’t wait to see them on him. Here is my version on Peter Leo. Love,

I have been busy. We are getting our house ready to put on the market. I have put the sewing machine “away,” which for me is still close by (in case of emergencies) on a very clean table. I confess, I am a messy seamstress. Ah, we all have our things. So, I haven’t been sewing lately. I’ve traded my machine for a paint brush and roller. Creatively, I have been working on the fabric design with Mary, but that is not the same thing. There is nothing to touch. Last night I realized that Easter is around the...

Mary has been busy working on some more fruit for our Tree of Life fabric. I love the pineapple. It’s so cool! I hope you were all able to click on the link that Al left in the comments on my previous post. Only Al could find this picture! Creepy. So, here is our project slowly growing. I want Mary to come up with a couple different color schemes. I like these colors for me because I’m planning out my studio, but I could really see this fabric in some amazing color-ways. What...
